Hi Casey, Your landscape painting looks very good! What's the size and medium?
I'm not a landscape painter so I can't offer too much specific advice, but I can say that I like the atmosphere you've created. You handled the reflections in the water really well, especially the reflected area on the right. I feel that there could be a bit more shadow added to the smaller reflected area on the left, at the point where the sand hits the water, similar to how you painted it on the right. Since the area on the left is further away, the shadow might not be quite as strong but I think it could be a bit stronger than what you have now, to give that area more of a sense of mass. Does that make sense?
All in all I think you've done a really nice job!
Thanks for Stopping by! I appreciate the comments. the shadow reflection on the left WAS stronger, but I then added some misty stuff on top to give it that "early morning" look. So i guress I need to go back and tweak that again. Thanks for the tips!
This mist effect is really good! I think you could keep that misty look by darkening the shadow slightly and gradually, by using subtle glazes, so that you don't darken it too much at once and regret it. That's what I would try, but as I said I'm not a landscape painter so do what feels right to you! :)
