Bio

My journey into art started two years ago when I came across some craft bits and pieces while clearing out my mothers house.
The next day I went to poundland a shop known for its quality art materials where I got a set of 12 oil paints, 12 watercolour paints , 12 acrylic paints and 15 paint brushes for £4, out of the three I choose the acrylics. The last art class I had was at age 13 at school over 40 years ago where I spent all the time doing pottery so YouTube was where I went for help.
After a couple of months of following videos I made my first posted on TAC and it's thanks to the advice , encouragement and friendship that members have given me that I've grown in confidence I normally say I paint when asked what I do this has lead to the offer of a number of house painting jobs and I've been ask how much I charge to paint a room a few times as well , although I'd have loved the chance of painting a whole room my style I had to tell them I can't paint using only one colour.
I've tried out most media but feel happier with acrylics paints more recently I've spent a lot of time on watercolours and feel more comfortable with them. I carry pencils and a pad with me all the time now so do lots of quick little on the spot sketches while out and about.
Most of the time I don't know what I'm going to paint until the painting is well on the way , I paint mainly from imagination but will paint something seen while out and about or using an image from one my large collection of photos or just something seen on tv . I have though of trying lessons but most local classes are run by devotees of Bob Ross and I can watch the man himself on video rather than taking his lesson second hand so for the time Being I'll do my own thing with the occasional look at you tube when I need to know something new. .

Thank you Kathy  my cousin advised that a bit of a background story can add to a painting and it seems to work

Thank you Sharon. I try and look on the bright side of things and put it into my various works. I'm never too sure where I'm going next with my art but i try and enjoy the journey.  There are time where i just start laying on paint until something starts appearing on the canvas  and these are always the paintings of mine i like the most and seem to get the best reaction

Thank you everyone for your kind words

Congrats Paul, your style of art is always innovative and meaningful. Mainly reflections of daily life which is both interesting and at times amusing. Keep on keeping on with your great work.

Ted

Thank you Ted, most of the time  I start painting with no idea where it's going so its why daily events or triggered memories fill my paintings , I'm just happy people enjoy what i do
