Thank you Rita!  Just wanted to give you an idea of what could be done with the markers.  I only have a couple so far, but it sure sped up the time on this little piece I did for a friend.  Have fun with them and see what ideas work for you =]

Pris, thank you for your excellent comment! Appreciate this a lot. The sample looks so natural. Very nice!

Here is a sample where I used a blue prismacolor marker for the couch and then went back in with colored pencils.

Hi Rita -     The only way to create a new color by layering the markers is to start with the lightest color and work to the darkest color, leaving the lighter areas alone as you layer so that you are creating shadows and dimension.  My preferred method is to use the marker as a base color, then create your highlights and shadows with the colored pencils. . . similar to a watercolor wash that is then built up by adding more color.  It's a way to speed up the process.  Keep playing with them and you will soon discover what you do and don't like about them...and have fun!

Rita, Mark Bedwell, is a cp expert. He can explain all sorts of things to you. Don't know if he's your friend, but it would greatly benefit you if you made him one. Plus, he is the neatest guy. I don't know about the art markers. I have a cheaper brand of art markers and I like them. They are very colorful. I use them at an angle to protect the brush tip. It gets tricky in tight spaces, but I have learned to maneuver them. Not sure if its the same thing as the PRISMCOLOR art markers. Didn't know they made them. I love the cps, too. Rich in color and I love the flow of them. Just babbling. Take care, Cathey

Hello friends, I'm new to this discussion group, but not new to TAC. My main medium is acrylic, gels and pastes. Lately, I started out with PRISMACOLOR colored pencils and PRISMACOLOR art markers. I begin to like the pencils, but I'm less happy with the art markers. The main reason is that I cannot layer them to come up with a different color. Any thoughts, tips for the pencils or markers are appreciated. Thanks Rita

Use the pencils over the marker...makes for great results and the markers still work well.  Chalk it up to a lesson learned =]

I'm anxious to see an answer. Have never tried it before. Hoping Mark B. will see this. He is really good with colored pencils, not sure about markers though. I am really getting into "Brush Markers" right now. They cover so smoothly and not blotchy like some markers. I have classic colors, but am going to look for other colors, also. Have you tried them before? Just curious. Good luck, Cathey

Question: Has anyone ever used their markers over their colored pencils, and it make the marker work less?

I guess I actually did something right for a change. It did show up.

Thanks, Mark
