Hi Nick Nicholson...
I paint a lot of furred creatures....
This is the rule of thumb method I use for colored fur

This is one of my paintings showing this furred technique......

Hi  Glad to join Pet Art.  Only began doing kittys and pups lately.  Started with drawings and 1 or  2 acrylic pics.  Here is a pencil drawing done for practice. I'll be posting some more on my page.  I'm still not expert in this area and hope to get better in time.  Welcome any suggestions.  Judith.

My dog Henry who i swear loves being drawn and is the perfect model he will sit with any old pencil in his mouth until i take it then he scamps away and sits like that for hours! I think he was a model in another life the poser...
