If I may.. I'd like to give you a tip that will make this type of subject "sit better"...
I copied your photo and reconfigured the dimensions of the painting...
As you can see, the dog now has more space above and to the right of him.
By relocating him, he is much easier to focus on. He's less like a cutout from a bigger picture and more about him,
o so fine samantha! how long did he take you? i'm thinking of starting my first real pet portrait. no, i must say, i've done a couple. but they were fairly quick ones. i'd like to do a special careful rendering for a special pet. i have so many things i want to do though, so i must prioritise them!
my special pet portrait wants doing first i think! wish me luck! i'll post later.
