Oils on 12 x 16 inch canvas

I asked my neighbours son if I could take his photo for a painting. He said yes.So, zoom in, snap snap and away. I set too with the brush and soon there it was. Some days it just happens. I haven't got it figured yet and wish I could. I entered this for a juried show and it won a prize.

Looks great!

The eyes remind me of Rembrant's last self-portrait...very evocative.

WOW! No wonder you want to paint 8 hours a day. If I got those kind of results I would do it full-time, whatever that is.

Thanks Alice.

RL, I used to find that painting gave me a release of something special, it was truly living. I want to get back to that agagin.

That makes perfect sense. Hope you post more here in the future... will be looking for them.

Brilliant capturing of skin color, mood, and - as always, it seems, in your work - what the eyes have to tell us.  Wonderful.

Fantastic!!

This is wonderful! What wonderful skin tones, light and shading. Great capture of the expression!
