I haven't found my own unique art style yet, so I try all kinds of different art mediums, styles and so forth. A while ago I tried art mosaic - an old masters painting. This definitely challenged my patience and is one of the most time consuming styles ever. Please give me critique on this artwork and how I can improve, perfect or change it. Honest, bone-deep constructive criticism welcome.
I like it! Nice job! I can imagine how this would take a lot of patience!
I know nothing of tile work, so forgive my ignorance. But is it possible to use a darker grout? (Assuming that's the binding agent showing up between tiles?) Or even different colors of grout in different parts of the mosaic? To me, the solid white kind of washes out the contrasting colors in different parts of the mosaic.
Firstly thanks so much for the reply!
Regarding the grout, I forgot to mention that I painted it with Gouache paint on a watercolour board - so I left the white unpainted ;) Sorry for not clarifying that. Thanks for the tip, I think that is a great idea to "fill" the grout spaces with different colours. I will try that in my next mosaic. My next mosaic is one of Michael Angelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling famous paintings. I will try different colours there and post it here to show you.
Thanks once again! :)
I agree, the white grout washes or makes it look faded. As far as the work it is very well done. You might be able to try some glazing in a few places like the background and some darker colors of white or even a gray, would really make this pop.
This just blew my mind it is freekin AMAZING love it! Incredible job nicely done!
This is beyond awesome!
