That Pesky Pea

8 x 10, ink & colored pencil on watercolor paper. My version of the fairytale “The Princess and the Pea,” where a tiny pea is put under a pile of feather beds to see if the princess sleeping in the bed is sensitive enough to feel the pea, and thus worthy of marrying the prince who is looking for a wife. The “pea” in my painting is a sparkling olive green Swarovski rhinestone.

Lovely work.  I don't know how she's managed on all those mattresses, I did a very last minute overnight stay at a bed and breakfast where they had two very soft mattresses on the bed  . In the night I felt a bit seasick with all the wobbling of the bed and I need mountain climbing gear to get out of the middle where I'd sunk..   I crossed that place of my list of places to stay
