About Me

I am an artist, writer, traveler and founder of this website. In 2011 I created The Art Colony as a sister site to Art-is-fun.com, which I founded in January 2009 as a fun way to share my art knowledge with people around the world.

Since then, Art is Fun has grown faster than I could have imagined.  I was getting so many emails from artists of all types and abilities - all who had unique experiences, valuable insights, and special talents to share.  I just knew I had to find a way for all of Art is Fun's thousands of daily visitors to connect with one another, share their art and help each other out with techniques and ideas.

Thus, The Art Colony was born in May 2011!

It's been a joy to watch the community blossom over all these years, but by 2015 my personal and professional schedule had grown so busy that I could no longer run The Art Colony. In September 2015, I handed the site over to one of the moderators, Jane Miles (aka cheekyjane). I'm so grateful that she offered to take over the ownership of this community! Now I look forward to participating on The Art Colony as a regular member. :)

You can see a lot of my art in my Art Colony gallery here, as well as on my website, www.thaneeya.com

My art can be purchased as originals and prints

My art is also available in a wide variety of fun items, such as: t-shirts, iPhone cases, stickers, and more

You can see the full range of my goodies at www.ShopThaneeya.com.

These days I'm busy creating art for publishing and licensing. You can see all of my published books and calendars on my Amazon Author page: amazon.com/author/thaneeyamcardle

Thanks for visiting my profile page!

Traveling Artist

Last year, my husband and I decided it was time to live out our dream of exploring the world.

We gave most of our stuff to Goodwill, put the rest in storage, and embarked on a nomadic journey that has so far taken us to San Francisco, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. After that, who knows?! We've pared down all of our day-to-day material belongings to fit into 2 checked bags and 2 carry-ons, and we're loving it! Thanks to the Internet, we can still conduct business as usual (and I…

Sarasota Chalk Festival: Graffiti, Murals and More (Part 3)

Posted on December 14, 2011 at 5:29pm 0 Comments

The Sarasota Chalk Festival included not only chalk art, but also graffiti, murals and live performances! Since there was so much art to see in the weeklong event, I've divided my blog coverage into 3 parts:

  • Part 1 provides an overview and displays some outstanding chalk art (click here for Part 1)
  • Part 2 discusses anamorphic 3-D pavement art (…

Earlier this month I got to see some really cool 3-D chalk art at the Sarasota Chalk Festival, such as this large drawing by a team of Dutch artists led by Leon Keer:

Earlier this month I attended the Sarasota Chalk Festival, which happened to take place just down the street from where I live!

Since it was so close, I was able to walk to the festival every day to see how the art progressed. This post contains a lot of photos and a…
