Hello: I'm new here and just getting acquainted. I do not consider myself a professional artist, just someone who loves art and to paint. Started long time ago using a small oil set I received as a gift. I started painting without knowing a thing about it. But my mom had been a great artist, a grad from Cooper Union back in the day. She died quite young, My first pictures looked like cartoons, but friends kept taking them home. At any rate, I liked it from the start and started reading How To books and they sank in. I'm no Michael Angelo but I paint a fair picture. I started with Oils, went on to water soluble oil and then to Acrylics which I use now mostly. I dabbled with pastels and watercolors a bit. I did a lot of reading of art history and am still consumed with it. I'm always on the lookout for ways to improve my drawing and painting. I see such beautiful work here I hope I learn some more.
