Beverly J Raffaele replied to Lakes's discussion Best oil paints and medium for a beginner?
"I have tried several brands of water soluble oils and the one I like best is Art Advantage. They can be mixed with acrylic too. I love them. No turpentine. Soap and water clean up. I can use the knife if I want as well. "

"Paint the way your heart tells you is  really right for you... Tight means more realism? Loose means impresionism? Please be your own artist : ) For inspiration, find something that you really love and let it flow onto the canvas. Take breaks…"

Sighing...This one is a struggle. I love to paint rivers but I can't get this one right... I am so tempted to get out the turpentine and take the river out. Pondering

I am from West Virginia left there when I was a child but always go back to enjoy the mountains and all the waterfalls.  There is so much beauty around us and we pass it everyday and really don't see it.  I love the mountains and the quiet you experience and the unexpected waterfall or creek rolling passed me.  My Father's family lived in the coal mining towns and now I wished as a child I would have listened more and had pictures of the hardest working men and women in the world. Thank you for such beautiful scene.
