sharing some traditional Ochre ....

Posted on March 27, 2016 at 9:10pm 0 Comments

It was in June, 2014 when I flew off to Alice Springs and picked up a coach tour visiting some amazing scenery about Alice Springs and beyond.

......you might enjoy re-visiting with me, the amazing Ochre Pits of the Northern Territory, Australia; about 100 kms out of "Alice".

I'm just going to add a single…

...starting to find my way about TAC; what a special place Thaneeya has created.

2015 I'd earmarked to make a start with drawing - even though I'm 1947 vintage - it's never too late to learn?  Quite where to start is a little perplexing, so I 'dabble' for the moment.  Am in total awe of the artwork I see posted here and admire the dedicated patience displayed by so many.  I'll take baby-steps shall I?

Only my first year of high-school provided an art-teacher and to my…

Hiya Carole.........I've just found the comment you made regarding my pic "Sunny day at the shed", and I noticed that you asked me a question about whether I painted with ink in some of my pics, and I failed answer........so here goes.

I use a differing array of tools to draw/paint my ink pics. If I'm just doing a drawing, then I'll use a couple of fountain pens for the outlines and heavier tones, some very fine tipped micro pens for the lighter tones, and brushes for large areas of black. If I'm doing an ink wash pic, then I'll use a dip pen for the outlines and a brush for the washes.........ooh, and I use two different inks as well...........Noodler's Heart of Darkness when using the fountain pens, and Indian ink with the dip pen. You can't use Indian ink in fountain pens because it clogs up their workings, but I'd use it in fountain pens if I could, because they're much nicer to draw with than a dip pen. I like to use Indian ink when doing a wash pic because it's waterproof, which means that you can overpaint the outlines without fear of them bleeding into the washes........Noodler's ink is non waterproof, and most definitely does bleed.............Hope this was of some help. :o)
