This drawing is done in colored pencil. I did use a bit of pastel chalk pencil for the purple color I preferred to any in my colored pencil collection. I also brushed the background with a piece of…READ MORE

Welcome, Cathey E. DeRosa!

I call myself a crafter. Not really an artist. However, as I told one of our own; I consider my crafts, works of art.  I get some inspirations from other sources, but I also have my own creations. I think of something and make it. It could be from nature or something I usually get at thrift stores. I consider myself quite diversified.

I love making miniatures of all kinds and jewelry. I work with decoupage, melts, mosaics, resin, jewelry, alcohol ink, acrylics, glass paints, fabric, paper, clays, tile and am into refurbishing small furniture as well...and the list goes on. Right now, I'm so into anything "mini", I think I love creating small best of all!

I didn't have a creative bone in my body-I thought. Once I got divorced, my creative juices started and my desire to "make" things, flowed and never stopped.

I am so excited to be one of you! I feel so blessed to be able to share with all, a part of my life only my family and friends know. I'm 66, disabled and crafting has become a therapeutic and rewarding part of my life.

I was selling some of my things at a local store, however, went out of business. Have been on Etsy, but was too difficult for me to keep up. I have had a couple of orders through dear people on AC, which was really fun.

I get inspired about something for someone and start putting my ideas together and follow where inspiration takes me. I usually have two or three projects going at the same time. I get my joy by giving the things I make away and seeing the looks on the faces of those who receive them as gifts of love.

2016 has been another rough year. Surgeries, complications and still some since surgeries from 2015; why I'm not on TAC very often. But, I keep on craftin'!

I've really gotta get crackin' on adding some pics on here!

The artwork I see continues to literally, blow me away, and am always impressed. I feel out of my league, but also get the sense it's okay and that's what I love about this site and the people I communicate with.  I so enjoy our friendships and conversations and am encouraged and blessed by you and hope I do the same in return.

Looking forward to meeting and making new AC friends as well!

Hi Cathey, thanks for the nice comment on my footstool. I have to say that I understand loneliness and it really sucks. It's sometimes so hard to know what to do about it. I joined our local rughooking group and that has helped so much. We meet every Tuesday for hooking and lunch. Right now I'm kind of stuck with what my next project will be but I will be sure to post it when I get done. Take care and thanks again, Bev

Thank you so much Cathey. I am glad that you liked my work and to know that we both share same interest. Even I am very excited to be friend with you, thank you for accepting my request.

I generally like to use Old Papers, Plastic and Glass. My Dad also use to upcycle old timber furniture, I think that's the reason why my mind is driven by the concept of upcycling.

Will try to post more such art piece and looking forward to see your beautiful upcycling art piece as well.

Hi Cathy,

I am glad you like the birds. Abstract like back grounds are easy to do, all I do is add colors and blend them (quick and easy). Since my divorce, I have turned my home into a studio - even the bedroom has an easel in it. haha

Hi Cath...yes, ppl tell me all the time to do adult colouring books....and I don't mind other ppl colouring my fact it was suggested that we take one of my colouring pages and have a challenge....that would be so cool and I would be sooooooo honoured....would love to see the great variety of colouring styles....

yes I did start a drawing for my story....not really happy with it but its the best I could do....not in the right art mode again but doing my best to contribute to Georgie's memoriam....working on another drawing too...will post soon....and thank you for the compliment on my story....working on another one but cant seem to get it all together....dang!...

Wishing you good health and less complications and stress...keep the faith....and stay positive....
