The theme is sort of Moulin Rouge. He showed me a can can doll that will go with it. The propellers he had me fix up to look like wine bottles. Fun little project.…See More

"Really charming. Is that a critique, just liking it? I like that it's long and slim. An unusual shape for wall decor. The simplicity makes it appealing."

"Adorable. I love English bulldogs. I used to be a dog walker and loved having them on my route. I never had to walk far. All they want to do is sit and be admired by passers by. Lazy but lovable."

Some stuff about myself

Hello,

My name is Laura Luisa Cowell. I am currently enjoying an encore career as a painter of pet portraits, children's furniture, toys and ceramic tiles.

I hold a BFA and an MFA in Theatrical Set Design. For many years I worked designing and painting for theater, opera, ballet and TV. These companies have included the New York City Opera, The American Ballet Theater, the Santa Fe Opera, Boston Opera Theater, Actors Theater of Louisville and many more.

In the late 1980's I began working in the special events industry in New York and continued in that field after moving back to Chicago in 1989. This led to several years as a partner in a premier Chicago company, Millennium Special Events.

About ten years ago I retired from that field and began painting on my own. Also worked for Chicago Dog Walkers for seven years, to make actual money. My poor old feet forced me to retire from that last winter. Although I do miss my days outside with my puppy pals.

At this time I am mainly focusing on pet portraiture, toys, children's furniture and ceramic tiles.

Hehe!......I've now got a picture in my head of a couple of cats hanging on a clothes line pegged to some hangers.  :o)

Seriously though, have you ever tried washing a cat?.......I'd rather scrap with a couple of pit bulls!

Hahaha!..........Bang on Laura, there's two good reasons for not using oils. I can think of a couple more reasons.......there's far too much faffery involved before you even start painting, and it's mind bendigly expensive.

P.S. Have you ever tried having the cats dry cleaned?  :o)
