"I really like it! As for the dark areas, could you possibly sandpaper the paint to allow the wood to show through a little? I know nothing about painting on wood, so I could be completely wrong, but I think that might add a little extra texture and…"

"Hi Reta,  I haven't been on the art colony in a while so just saw your question on fiber paste. Yes you can put fiber paste onto your canvas as long as its pre primed with gesso. It can also be placed on wood panel that is also gesso…"

Golden Fiber Paste question

I am experimenting with several different mediums but in particular i would like to know: can you put Golden Fiber Paste directly on canvas and it will stay on when finished with the picture? Is there anything that i need to do to the canvas or the fiber paste to help sucure it?Next question is: Do you think it would stay on wood that is going to be hung? I will put a varnish over the top of the project but I am curious about whether or not that will hold the fibre on.Thanks so much!See More

"Really charming. Is that a critique, just liking it? I like that it's long and slim. An unusual shape for wall decor. The simplicity makes it appealing."

"I am using clear gesso on 70 year old roofing shingles now. There is no bleed through and I wish I had known that before I painted the birch trees. The barnwood is fun to paint on since each board lends itself to different subjects or processses."

"I know when you put stain on a piece of barn board (that's what they call it here) it soaks right in the wood."

"It's the boards on the outside of the barn. They use hardwood for the framing and hemlock for the boards. That's what we used to build our house. We used hemlock. The design is called board and batten. Hemlock is our state tree."

"Love it Reta! I think it would look great as a triptych - is that the right word when you have 3 paintings side by side. I have to ask though what is barnwood? Is it wood that is commonly used to make barn doors, is it upcycled barn doors, none of…"
