I am back (almost)!

Posted on January 8, 2015 at 1:05am 0 Comments

First of all, thank you kindly TAC for holiday greetings!!!

Well, now, when festive season is almost over (did you know yesterday was Orthodox Christmas? not that I'm Orthodox - I just like to celebrate everything, 'cause it's fun, right?), I am back! I just need couple more days to overcome hangovers, shaking hands, trembling fingers, set straight my sleeping schedule and i'll be good to go!

And of course I wish all of you the very productive 2015 artistically and all the…

it's like "egg or chicken?" question, anyway it's very annoying, counterproductive and just plain bad for your health, in the meantime there are lot's of things i'd like to put on the paper as soon as i get back to normal...

And goood time of the day, whatever you have there, ladies and gentlemen!

My last blog got some people confused about my mental state. I received some messages like "Hold on, Sam, there's always hope and great life ahead!" Yes, thank you guys, I know that, the problem is how do I get from here to there in one piece while remaining mentally functioning within commonly accepted definition of normality!

The other part is a little bit tricky, I'm…

now, when it's all quiet...

I am pretty sure this happened to most of you too: out of the blue you see the picture in your mind, and it's so real and it's right there. You see all the characters and shapes and details, and for some reason it's so important to you that you can't think of anything else, and you have no other choice but to put it on paper. Here's one of those - "...now, when it's all quiet..." I am not posting it in My Artworks, I think you understand.

Hi Sam, my coloured pencil book I am using at the moment is called "Animals Learn to draw with coloured pencils step by step by Debra Kauffman Yuan" it is helping me learn to draw better and helping me with techniques to improve my skills in coloured pencils, like blending and layering, so this week I learnt more about drawing feathers on birds and also spots on a leopard. I actually got it online in ebook format and put it on my phone or I can also read it on my computer. I really like this one as all the lessons are pretty interesting.

The first book I got for coloured pencils was "Drawing Made Easy: Coloured Pencils by Eileen Sorg" which had some good lessons but also some really boring ones like shoes and gumball machines which I skipped. I also got this one online. But Michelle also used this book and she got hers from Spotlight (a hobby shop in australia).

I hope this helps, I think there are a lot of good books out there, and lots of ways to get them either in a shop or online, or in ebook format. If you decide to get an ebook, you can download a free program called calibre which will let you convert it to different ebook formats so it can be read on your phone say in epub format or convert it to pdf (which is what I did) so I could read it on the computer.

Good luck with your drawing, all the best
