Hi Sharon!  Thanks for the friend request.  Is it reciprocal or do I need to send a request to you, too? (I'm still learning so much about how this site works)

Hope the healing and therapy is going well...it still was a nice excuse to stay in one place and make dolls and coffee sleeve journals, tho.  : )

Hi Sharon,

I received the Birds this weekend.  My grandson and I enjoyed opening them!  Thank you so much.  I think it's too late for me to post them for all to see though :-(.

Take care,

Kim

Nah... you're not bonkers. You're just creative!
Glad that you managed to work something out. Yes I did forget to mention that you can model a face/head (if you create one that you like, you can use that to impress in clay so as to create a mold) :D

Shop like mine near you? Didn't actually understand ... (am still sleepy)
I'm just a msg/email away my friend, just drop me a line whenever you need :)

Hello Sharon, I apologize for my tardy reply.
Many thanks for your feedback re the shop thingy - had resorted to the Artsy Elf (much more in tune with my character) :p

Regarding the clay masks, I have never used paper clay even though I have read that it is quite lightweight and very nice to work with.
First things first, I tried to source some face molds locally too. But didn't find any: the one a craft-shop had was for a 6" Christmas father face - and it did creep me out somehow.
So, as a first experiment: I did use a "barbie" doll head, cut in half, and pressed into air-drying clay. Once this dries, I added a layer of Plastikote (aerosol plastic) - acrylic spray can work well too I guess. For the positive replica, added talc to the mold (you can use soap instead of talc too), a lump of air-drying clay, pressed into the mold, and released with the excess trimmed.
You'll get a nearly same replica of the barbie head, yet it is better cos you'll have to have fun painting and colouring it in :)

I did purchase a plastic mold 1/2 head & a polymer clay face (and had come across some other molds back then) through Etsy - as I needed a more polished negative for an upcoming project.
Sculpey and Amaco have a range of "face" molds too.

Hope this helps you a little bit. Kindly let me know if I could be of any more assistance.
Best regards, Ton-Ton :)

Sharon, just viewed your art show.  I like your leaves and the little girl in pink is wonderful. I noticed that you did have a little "Dotee Doll".  Have fun, Barbara Davis

With the colours in the 12 pack of Brusho I would play with blending brilliant red and purple to get what you want. Let me know how it goes!

I'm so sorry to inform all of Sharon's friends that Sharon passed away in July 2016 after a six month stay in hospital.
It has taken this long to figure out her password to get onto this site and let you all know.
