Thank you for the stained glass comment William - the liking wasn't an 'idea' though, but I like the humour!

William Barns,Thank you so much for the compliment. I achieved what I set out to do then. As I said this painting was a challenge to do. No photo...Thank you Realism which I think I achieve with some paintings.

Hiya William.........normally Rembrandt pastels go for around £2.50 a pop, but Jackson's do them for £1.35 - £1.50. The fortunate thing about standard soft pastels is that you can combine them with pastel pencils for detailing, and you can also paint with them by using water.......the thing I find interesting about oil pastels is that you can use them on paper........I'll give 'em a go one of these days. :o)

Hiya William, pleased to meet you. Thanks for the compliments concerning my pics.

Re; soft pastels.......I've yet to try oil pastels, but the pastels I use are Rembrandt pastels made by Royal Talens. Not too sure about the exact ingredients used, but they're basically raw pigments with a bit of spit thrown in to hold them together. I'm very new to them, and the pics you see on TAC are all I've done so far. During my time I've tried pretty much every kind of art medium, and NOTHING compares to the fantastic colours you get from soft pastels........tricky to use though. :o)
