I think I'm almost ready for my wee exhibition.
This weekend I prepped paintings for hanging. Working on my dining room table, I screwed eye hooks into, and wired, the six paintings that hadn't already been prepped. Then, to get them off the floor where I had them leaned one against the other, with plastic between, I installed enough wall hooks in my office to accommodate all ten paintings. The office now looks like a gallery, which is not a bad thing. It certainly made me go "Holy…READ MORE
Earlier this month I got to see some really cool 3-D chalk art at the Sarasota Chalk Festival, such as this large drawing by a team of Dutch artists led by Leon Keer:
This past November I was asked to place some of my work on consignment at one of the downtown galleries where I live. I was ecstatic of course and anxious to see if any of them would sell because just like everyone else in the world, I could use some money.
But I found after they had left my home (I put four on consignment) my house felt a little empty. Even though I had sold two others prior to the gallery show and delivered them in person to their new homes having these four leave…READ MORE
And guess what? My blood pressure went up, I gained 5 pounds and I just wasn't myself.
I need Art. I need a canvas that calls to me, brushes in a…READ MORE
Right now I am trying to learn some different techniques instead of just going ahead. It is frustrating sometimes because it never comes out as I want it but I keep thinking it will be for my benefit. I think am getting a little ambitious now that I realize I may have some potential. And I am curious about all the possibilities. So I just keep going and wait for my next masterpiece :-). But it is not as easy as I thought. I hope on the way I will find my own style.
Earlier this month I attended the Sarasota Chalk Festival, which happened to take place just down the street from where I live!READ MORE
I was wondering how to mix all watercolors but mainly grey. I had a piece of art I was trying to recreate and I was instucted to use gray watercolor and that was the main "ingredient" for my paiting so I am just wondering how to get a gray watercolor without it being to dark.
I wanted to post this quickly as it is such a fantastic resource for teaching and learning the elements of art. It is aimed at school children but is actually great for anyone starting out in art. It explains all of the the Art Elements so succinctly. Artful Genius shared it through facebook and now I would like to pass it on to anyone who is interested.…READ MORE
I am not Russsian but these dolls fascinate me; so every Christmas or Easter time i paint more of them.
here are a few of my creations.
I am very happy that I found the art colony. It gives me a lot of inspiration and motivation to continue. So far everyone is very friendly and I see so much good art. So many talents. I appreciate it very much that people are willing to share their experiences and write tutorials, because I know that this is a lot of work.

Today I thought I would create a little art video showing my painting 'A time for healing' in stages and also place in there my other paintings which appear in my gallery here.
Please click the youtube link above and hope that it brings a smile. The video was inspired by marine and wildlife conservation as is all my artwork, and my work for the…READ MORE
I've been colour washing my sketchbook pages to make them a little more, arty. But, they make great backgrounds too, and there's so much depth and shape in them. I've recently been looking at Mark Rothko's work and I think I've inspired without noticing..…READ MORE
I am passionate about the world that we live in and my works reflect how I believe our oceans and coastlines ideally should remain, natural and revered.
My intention is to capture moments in time that leave a positive memory in the viewer, to create an almost scuba diving experience of…READ MORE
I know that its a bit early but well I feel festive at the moment and cant wait until the snow falls. What a fantastic time to take photos or to paint the clean silent white landscape. So to round things off for anyone else who feels the approaching enchantment, that most magical and lovely time, where just for a few days the world actually is more caring;
I have attached a youtube link especially for you. and with that I wish you a very Merry Christmas.

It really is true that inspiration for paintings can come from anywhere. I was waiting at my regular transit stop on Saturday, but I was there at a time I normally am not. This was 10:30 a.m. and sunny and I’m usually waiting for the streetcar at 7:30 a.m. As I looked across the street, I saw that the front of the building near which I was standing, streetsigns and various cables were reflected in the window of the store across the street. The resulting window scene was red and yellow…READ MORE
I (sort of) learned how to air brush over the weekend. An artist friend of mine has been mentoring me since August (for a fee) and teaching me topics and techniques I'm interested in. I've always wanted to try air brushing. Oh, what fun that was! I'm in love. What lovely subtle colour blending you can do for abstracts--with little or no headache and a fraction of the time of brush blending! And the little star bursts? Oy, I did a whole painting with nothing but star bursts--LOL. I might…READ MORE
This week I am blogging about how I am inspired by all the wonderful visuals on pinterest. I use it to pin color combinations for use in my artwork...to pin artwork that I am intrigued by...certain marks and texture that are begging for me…READ MORE

So it’s been a while. I`m so busy crafting greeting cards for Christmas bazaars that I don’t get too much time to write anymore. I was reminded today of my blog when someone in class asked me if I had a blog (if I can remember right?). Any how, here are two mix-media works of art I made on October 30,
2011. See my previous post on metal working for details on techniques:…
