Exploring the site with a smile on my face

I am new to this site. I wish I knew about the site years ago when I was starting out! There is just so much to learn and the whole set-up is positive. That is such a blessing. I recently left Facebook and other similar social networks, because there always seemed to be negativity, conflict and just plain old jealousy and it started to mess up my soul and mind-set.

I love it here, so I will definitely be staying.

xx

My Art Journey

Hello,

New here and find it a delightful site. The members seem open and down to earth. I love all the arts, music, dance, poetry, drama, and of course all visual arts. For the past ten years I have been dabbing with painting. I have just recently found my way onto the net. I can say quite a number of venues and opportunities. I am fast to have sensory overload and  when I go to my blank canvas I get a plethora of ideas. But I know my knowledge and skill set is only going to take me…

Just Step Away!

I find more and more that I am taking pictures of my art in different stages of progress..  It is a great way to get perspective on what is or isn't happening to your work.  It lets me know if what I "see" inside my mind is coming together or if I need to rethink that idea or change something before it is too late.

Sometimes I hate what I am doing. I would put it away for the night or the day or the week.....lol. Then walk into a room and it would seem like I was viewing it for the…

Silk Painting in London schools 2015

Working  alone with silk over the years has allowed me to draw from within myself, to manifest thoughts and feeling as shapes and colours, in many ways it has been a closed private release. Last year in France i worked with a number of people sharing both time and expressive creation. It allowed me to loosen up a little and reminded me how much every other part of my life is about working with people. With this in mind i have been working to set up some silk painting workshops in London…

my intro'

...starting to find my way about TAC; what a special place Thaneeya has created.

2015 I'd earmarked to make a start with drawing - even though I'm 1947 vintage - it's never too late to learn?  Quite where to start is a little perplexing, so I 'dabble' for the moment.  Am in total awe of the artwork I see posted here and admire the dedicated patience displayed by so many.  I'll take baby-steps shall I?

Only my first year of high-school provided an art-teacher and to my…

Beginner's creativity.

Hi everyone, I got into art for my own personal reasons to help me focus on something and become creative. I've done a lot of what I would call abstract paintings using lots of bold and bright colours and various different shapes. Quite basic because I'm not overly good at actually drawing stuff. I have done a lot of paintings on canvas using, acrylics, wall paper tester pots which work out quite well, water colours and more recently been exploring the use of pastels and digital media. I did…

INSTRUCTIONAL W.I.P.

Every now and then, I like to scan a portrait at different stages, for my own use. Sometimes it helps to be able to go back and see how I did a certain feature. I’ve had a few questions about how I do a portrait.

I guess you have to have a certain eye for this kind of work but I always hold that it’s more technical training and practice. I don’t trace a face or use a grid. I have my own method, which I learned from my father when I was very small. I can’t work without a ruler.…

First Sergeant David H. McNerny

Several years ago, I was working in a health foods store and had the pleasure of helping a very nice little old man.  I didn't know at the time that he wasn't much older than I was.  There was a reason he looked older, but I knew nothing about him.  I didn't even know his name.  He always paid with cash, so I never saw a check or a credit receipt.

One day in 2010, I was sitting at my drafting table, with my back to the television set.  When they announced the death of a Medal of Honor…

Stuff

So I was enjoying this site but then I was really busy for a few weeks and got behind on stuff and then I went on holiday and I was going to catch up but the place had no wi-fi and then I got back and my landline was on the blink and the internet was really slow and I figured I'd catch up when it was working properly again but in the end that took nearly a month to sort out and by then I was feeling really embarrassed about ignoring people for so long...

But my new years resolution…

Why Hello There~

You can call me either Kix or Terena! I've been doing digital art since I was about ten or so years old, so I have a bit of experience with it. However, now that I'm a college student who also works part time, I don't have as much time as I used to to play around and make as much art. I started doing commissions on one site (Flight Rising) in return for in-game currency to get my "name" out there, so hopefully that will give me the…

Hi I have just joined this site yesterday

Hi I have just joined this site yesterday. I am quite nervous and excited about it. I hope I don't make a fool of myself with my silly wee pictures. I am only started painting and find it very relaxing. I suffer from a rare blood disorder and get extreme fatigue but I try my best to go on. One question is why are my colouring pencil pictures always streaky

Introduction - Says it all really

My name is Kim and I live in Australia, I live with my husband and son and suffer from a chronic illness called Fibromyalgia which has seriously messed with my brain. Basically up until 11 years ago I lived almost completely in my left brain.... now I spend most of my time in my right brain and I've become so arty that I can't keep up with myself.

Depending on health and finances I get to every course I can get to because you never know when you’ll have an “ahh” experience and see…

Would you like to contribute to my book?

With all the writing challenges now behind me - and I am happy to report that I achieved both targets - I am now getting ready to finish the book on Creative Journaling.

Then I got an idea. Since there is artwork involved, and I am not that skilled, I wondered if anyone here would like to contribute to the book. I need water based art and dry medium pieces (pencil and pen) to add to the book. If you are interested, please note the following:

1. You will get full credit for your…

now, when it's all quiet...

I am pretty sure this happened to most of you too: out of the blue you see the picture in your mind, and it's so real and it's right there. You see all the characters and shapes and details, and for some reason it's so important to you that you can't think of anything else, and you have no other choice but to put it on paper. Here's one of those - "...now, when it's all quiet..." I am not posting it in My Artworks, I think you understand.

"...now, when it's all quiet..."

Thanksgiving 2014

Hello again. I have a lot to be thankful for. As you may know. I recently had  a Vitrectomy in my right eye to repair a macular hole. I had lost most of the sight in left eye about  15 years ago due to a macular hole ,that even with surgery, could not be repaired,

I am happy to report that the hole was repaired, and I shouldn't lose any more of my sight.  However, I do not see nearly as well as I did when I started painting last January.

But I am truly thankful for saving…
