...starting to find my way about TAC; what a special place Thaneeya has created.
2015 I'd earmarked to make a start with drawing - even though I'm 1947 vintage - it's never too late to learn? Quite where to start is a little perplexing, so I 'dabble' for the moment. Am in total awe of the artwork I see posted here and admire the dedicated patience displayed by so many. I'll take baby-steps shall I?
Only my first year of high-school provided an art-teacher and to my recollection just a single excursion down the back of the school-grounds to the creek to 'draw what you see'! The rest was learning the masters - it didn't mean much to me at all then though. Besides, I didn't believe I could draw. Show me the way....I think we needed projects of how to use pencils for a start; maybe that came later, when I was thrilled to make it into a commercial-course (typing/shorthand/book-keeping) and that wiped out art and home-economics (cooking/sewing) participation.
Yes I've posted some zentangle-inspired-art from a few years back, and I see that as more a little experiment with doodling, rather than drawing. That came about when a friend had gifted me with a Zentangle kit package after my husband of 43 years had passed on from melanoma in 2010. I found myself totally absorbed through to the early hours of a morning; it was a most cathartic exercise.
Living on the east coast of N.S.W., Lake Macquarie, Nature-study has always been a part of me, and .. I enjoy gardening (when the heat of summer has waned!), creating digital-collages; photography and bird-watching. Much of those experiences were captured in my blog Snap Happy Birding and also Snap Happy Online. They're both open for viewing/posts and should you visit there (which I hope you will if you've made it this far), you will note that I made a closing post on each of them late last year. I had to make room to fit that start to drawing in somehow.
Maybe there's more here than you needed to know. Thanks for checking me out, and I look forward to enjoying your art and being inspired ... over and over.
ps - and should you browse my blogs, and should you like to use any content in your art, just 'send a message' to enquire. I'm really happy to share inspiration!
