Hi Alice, I often find myself giving the same answer to this question and it's the one i use when faced with the same problem. As an abstract painter i find my ideas inside myself. I let things take their course and then work with them as they flow. Even if you hate abstract art it is a good way to begin from scratch, sometimes it leads to exciting places. So in short take a brush or a pen and some paper and stat scribbling, eyes open or eyse wide shut

Abstract is also my go-to style when I'm blocked as well as when I'm trying out a new medium. Zentangles can work well for this; I've also had some success with just sitting down, analyzing my recent emotions, assigning them each a color (or color group!) and shading in the page accordingly.

Hi Alice!  Jotting down subject material for future reference/future artwork is what comes to mind for me.  I recollect certain places I've visited over the years and have many photos stored in computer files, so when I can find the time to sit with drawing, there are some ideas waiting for me.  Any time of day, when web-browsing sometimes, you may come across an image that takes you back to a time and place ------- if it is your inspiration, jot it down there and then.
