I'm a huge fan of colorful & detailed abstract art, so I thought it would be fun to create a blog post that showcases some of the colorful & detailed abstract art on the Art Colony!  Each of the images in this post link back to the artist's portfolio so that you can see more of their work.

I'll start off with one of my own paintings, which you can see below.  This is an 8 x 8 inch acrylic painting on canvas. The title is Supernal Festiva.   I used a combination of texture mediums to add texture to the piece, which I then painted over with acrylics.

Here's a detailed colorful piece by Cathey Franke called Dark Moon, created with pen and markers:

Here's a colorful digital artwork by Rachelle Hartley called Coasting:

Here's a papier mache tortoise by Pamela Wagner called Dream Tortoise Looking Up, with a detailed and colorful abstract shell:

Here's a colored pencil and black ink drawing by Grace Sanford, called Love of Color:

I hope you enjoyed this rainbow dose of detailed and colorful abstract art!

Do you create detailed, colorful abstract art?

Let's see it!

In this short blog post I wasn't able to include all of the wonderful art on this site that is both colorful and detailed, so if you'd like to share your colorful, detailed abstract art, please post in the comments so we can all take a look.

Here's how to upload an image to your comment: http://community.art-is-fun.com/forum/topics/how-to-add-an-image-to...

Can't wait to see your colorful and detailed pieces! :)

Thanks for pulling these together Thaneeya! What a great idea for a blog post. I especially like how diverse each of these pieces are. Imagine what we could do with this concept!

Thanks, Sue.  I find that when I browse the gallery, I'm sometimes 'curating' a collection in my head.  I plan to do more posts like this to showcase some of the fabulous work here on the Art Colony, relating to different themes. :)

I think this will greatly enhance and expand the users experience of TAC! Your take on the art here has a unique perspective which will inform what you gather together for each collection. A wonderful way to educate as well as shine a spot light on many of the the diverse and amazing art work we see coming in to the gallery. I worry about not seeing things as the new work speeds by!
