Hi all...

I am presently working on a painting of a horse drawn, Cobb & Co mail coach..
These coaches were once used in Australia too carry passengers and mail to the remote regions. They are very similar to the Wells Fargo coaches in the USA.

This particular coach is a reproduction and is owned and operated, as a tourist venture, by a family in my home town...

The painting was commissioned by the family.

It is a complex piece... horses, harness, people and the coach itself.....a lot of detail involved.

It is on a  70cm x  50cm canvas....I am using Createx Wicked acrylics.

I decided to start with a white canvas, which something I rarely do.... I am now kicking myself for doing that...it will make painting the background a task.

Initial sketch on the canvas - I later tightened the canvas

Finding the details and laying down foundation colors

Further layering done
Initial stages on the horses and coach

Layering continues

Adding some detailing and laying down the base ground color ( later changed)

This painting is still work in progress... more soon..

Some serious patience you have there, very careful and precise, great stuff.

Looking good, Dallas!  A lot of detail to incorporate!

Thank you, Glen....yes. it has been a tough one to paint..I only have one, small, photo reference to go by..
It's nearly done, although I have had to set it aside, briefly, to do two 18" x  24" paintings for an art comp/show in November.
I should have those completed in a couple of weeks, then it's back to this painting..
