Animal Portraits/ does anybody else find it completely different drawing an animal or a pet to a human face...

Yes, my animal faces are very one dimensional compared to human faces. For my part though, I've always had trouble drawing hair. Skin textures are much easier for me.

I think that animal or pet portraits are much easier to draw than a person's face. I think it's much harder to get a person's exact likeness than to draw an animal. Also flesh tones are so varied and sometimes difficult to do. This is just my own experience.

Excellent drawing.  Is this all in pencil?  Very good. Have you tried charcoal? I did my cat in charcoal and it was a breeze. I was actually surprised when I stepped away and my cat was looking back at me. It's my only animal portrait and it was very easy compared to portraits of people.
