As I said in the acrylics section, I've been working with watercolors for a couple years but I'd like to move onto textured paints. What would you recommend to start me out learning? Books? Videos? Links? Anything and everything would be greatly appreciated at this point. Just dump your brains :P
I like a realistic style and I like to get superfine details. I'd want to focus more on landscapes and florals but really, anything would be super helpful :)
Hi again Aubrey! :) I posted some links to Oil Painting Resources in this thread: http://community.art-is-fun.com/forum/topics/oil-painting-learning-...
I'd highly recommended Delmus Phelps' site, http://www.easy-oil-painting-techniques.org/ because he really knows his stuff! He is a member here and has also posted some useful tutorials and tips in our oil painting forum.
hi ladies....this is a great question Aubrey. I've always used watercolor too and wanted to change things up a bit, so I've started using Oils. I'm a freak over details too so I would love to know of some sites to help me out as well. I will check out Delmus Phelps' site. Thaneeya, do you know of any other sites that you would recommend?
Be careful re books and dvd's. I am a bit of a collector but have found that most of them are just the artist showing off their own style, not really teaching.
I do like Gregg Kreutz, his DVD's are excellent, he explains every stroke and colour. Kevin McPherson is also great.
