I am a self-taught oil painter and photographer... love the oil medium, and love taking photos...however, watercolor has always fascinated me.  Sadly from what little I have tried the medium, I've been exasperated with the seemingly reverse application process compared to oil, and repeatedly frustrated with the soggy bland or muddy over-worked watercolors. My photos are all about vivid color, light, and contrast and I sincerely feel many of them would look fantastic as seemingly luminance watercolor paintings. From the few images presented from this book, I am truly enticed to give this medium another try, and excited at the opportunity to be guided and taught the proper watercolor techniques to create bold, bright, intense watercolor images. As a starving artist (which most unknown, unappreciated, real-job overwhelmed artists typically are), I’d love to win the book… as it’s honestly not in the budget currently to purchase.

I would use this  book's info to help me create art journals.

I've always been fascinated by the use of light in water colors! My watercolor technique definitely needs help. I'd really love to win this book!

Awesome!  I would love to win this book to help me create the bold color watercolor paintings I want to try but am afraid to go bold without more insight into harmonizing the colors!

I would be thrilled to win this book, I am a beginner in the art world, I am taking a class right now but I need some art adventure. I am a bit afraid of vivid color though I love it.  I am not sure how to use it and do it well.  Her art is beautiful I am sure I could learn a lot from her.  I love how her art is full of light and they feel warm

I have been painting for a number of years but struggle with keep light in my work.  Would love to win this book and use it to learn to keep the light.

There is a quote in Brenda Swenson’s book “Keeping a Watercolor Sketchbook”.  “Color gets all the glory, but value does all the work.” -Anonymous.  This is easily said for those who feel free to play with color. I seem to lack color inspiration. I believe that this book on color would give me lessons to free up my imagination.

I would love to win the book, Color Harmonies, Paint watercolors filled with Light, to learn new techniques for painting with water colors.  The illustrations look fabulous and bright!  I want my watercolor paintings to look just as fabulous!  Thanks for offering this fantastic book!

What a great Birthday Present it would make! My birthday is the same day this is over (Jan ,8th)

An artist can never know too much about color. Values and color choices create the mood for a subject.Yes, I would like to win this book in order to:

  1. create better paintings
  2. broaden my knowledge (Christmas Day I turned 84, but I'm still painting and learning!)
  3. pass this valuable color skill on to others.

I am extremely drawn to bright colors.  Have been all my life.  But I cannot seem to translate into my paintings.  This would be a life changer for me.

Using color to express an emotion of energy and lighting seems to elude me.  So this year, working on color theory is one of my goals.
