Ok guys so I'm back here in TAC and I have a question. You see this new painting of mine? This frog is great in my opinion but I still wanna make it as realistic as i can. So my question is, is there any other medium that you can use together or in combination with soft pastels to get the realism that I am going for?
Right now I have Pan Pastels, which I really love, and I also use Caran d' Ache soft pastel pencils for smaller details.
Do I use other mediums with it? Like, let's say, colored pencils or gel pens? And also when I use white on top of other colors the white becomes flat or gray-ish... its not quite as white as i want it to be. I also use a fixative so I can layer the colors so it doesn't turn into mud.. you know?
Is there anyway that you can add layers when the paper or canvas loses its grit?
. You don't want to ask me, even though I did lots of pastels. I love it soft. Hate that tight polished realism, but that's me. When I wanted more grit I used spray paint, then when the paint was still sort of wet I applied more pastels, but I was going for soft, so you don't want to do that. Hope the pastellists check in for you. The color is just lovely.
