Welcome to the monthly theme for February. Artwork and comments welcome from everyone!!!!

This month's theme is - Zen-sational
 (suggested by Nelson Failing)

This theme is a combination of 2 words: Zen and sensational, so whatever those two words combined inspire in you.

Here's how Nelson describes this theme: "I see zentangles gone wild, intricate, whimsical, beautiful, charming, fantasy and whatever is in your head to create a zentangle masterpiece...tangles within animal, people, flower, abstract shapes...creating stunning zentangle art pieces...your imagination is the limit..."

The theme is open to all artists whatever your medium.

Please post your finished artwork in this discussion thread.

These should be new pieces completed with this theme in mind.

Please remember to use the picture icon above text box to add images and not the attachment below. Click here for instructions on how to add an image to your forum post. This is important if you want people to be able to see your artwork!

To add your artwork, please use the "Reply to Discussion" box at the bottom of the page, NOT the "+ Add" button at the top of the page. (Otherwise your artwork will not show up in this thread.)

If you want to comment on someone's submission please do so here.

I can't wait to see how you interpret this - abstract, realistic, collage etc... so many opportunities for all.

LOL Linda...you are too funny girl...but glad you could join the challenge...nice job...for me, zentangling is a bunch of repeated shapes (circles, paisleys, flowers etc) with designs and patterns drawn in them and connected with swirls, scallops and lines.....lots of them....hope this helps you understand zentangling in its easiest application....LOL

Linda B and Sharon B   Great work !! I love the eyes,Sharon and your beautiful blue is gorgeous,Linda !!

Barbara and Kim, Outstanding pieces !!!!

I guess I was focusing on the wrong thing. LOL I was seeing Zen-Sational as actually having more to do with Zen,instead of Zen -Tangles. All the pictures are marvelous, and I've learned a lot from the challenge.

No right or wrong with these challenges, Ronnie ! Part of the fun is seeing all the different interpretations ! Yours is wonderful !!

Hi Ronnie....no no....you were not focusing on the wrong thing...the zen part comes from the peace and relaxing feeling you get while creating all this unlimited designs and patterns...its very calming and relaxing...well for me it is...you jus take your time and go with the flow....

Thanks, Nelson. Being such a novice, I'd never even heard of Zentangles. I totally understand now and admire the patience it must take to turn out such beautiful work.

Hey Ronnie, I was doing zentangles (on a small scale) in my earlier works and didn't even know there was a term for it...just learned it too...now it seems everytime I draw something, I wanna add tangles to it....LOL....need to stop myself...haha

Thanks, Nelson and Sharon, for the kind words about my creation.  I really love and appreciate the supportive culture that exists here in the "Art Colony."  It gives novices such as myself the courage to keep at it.

Keep creating Linda!

Oh wow, what a great theme and what an awesome arts! Well done everybody!

Hey Linda...believe it or not, I am still a novice too...haven't really sold my works or have an exhibition...doing all this strictly on the hobby level...
