I’ve agreed to the forum rule which states "When you join The Art Colony, you agree not to post any of the following: (1) Nude images in any form, including but not limited to paintings, drawings, sculptures, etc. Please note that the rule of "no nudity" is the rule of our service provider and not our preferred rule as an art site, however we must abide by their Terms of Service or risk being shut down.” but have to say I find it irksome in the extreme. Instance, just taking sculpture into account the percentage of the western cultural tradition that is buried from view by such rules is disturbing. I can understand a ban on works that illustrate sex acts but to hide something like Michelangelo’s David strikes me as puritanism gone mad. I fully understand that a service provider is in a position and has the right to put in place such rules but to apply them to the art-world is to my mind a disastrous limitation. Oh well, I was never very good at life drawing anyway.
