After completing a piece using a watercolor technique with acrylics, I noticed that the paper got very bumpy from the moisture. Is there a secret to preventing this from happening? I do not usually do watercolor. I was experimenting when I first began this piece.
hey that looks great david x
Stretch your paper first. Give it a good soak in water, 5 minutes or so should do it, then tape it down nice and tight to a board (you can buy special gummed tape for this) then leave it to dry completely. After that you should be able to paint freely without the wrinkling, and if it does wrinkle a little, don't worry, it should dry flat again :)
Hi....try using 200-450 gsm gummed board.......I find it gives excellent results . I also use 1 teaspoon of lap cold water wallpaper paste in my mixing water.......it gives watercolour stronger colours and you can use watercolour as if using oils.
