I am in the process of making my friend a calendar journal.  Not quite the same as others I have seen since this is for someone else she is going to have to fill in the squares.  The pages I am including are some of her favorite things the state fair (she loves cotton candy) and the zoo and then my favorite is zentangle of course.  Hope you enjoy them I have had a lot of fun making it.

Well, thank you Susanne....I am so happy I could help, especially with the children...yes, Expressive Art, without the focus being on technique, combined with impulsive collage can be a really revealing tool for your feelings and for healing...I am so glad you like the idea!

I also want to make a painting journal with ideas, paint swatches, color mixes, sketches, which I am not to good at.  I seem to be able to paint something better than drawing.  I am trying to figure out a mult-medium journal or may have to make separate ones. I have acrylic paint, water-color, which I never really got a chance to get into (long long story), chalks, pencils, (regular, oil, and water color, also stamps and the pads, colored markers, (if they are not dried up), and a few other things.. I have parchment paper and the supplies to make cards, and fabric. My son says, I have too many hobbies, but I get bored with one thing if that is all I have to do.  Anyway, does anyone have any ideas on an art journal? I really don't know where to start as making journals will be new to me.

I like the idea of a scripture journal, but never thought of it.  Though I am not doing too well, me or my moving mess, I try to think of something everyday to be thankful. Last night it was that I live on a hill. :)  It has poured and is flooded all over in the low lying places here.  I feel sorry for people.  After I went to bed it was hitting the windows so loud it sound like ice.  Sure wish I could send it to those who need it.  We are supposed to get an early fall (if they are right) and if they are right I hope we don't get snow like we have rain.  The last time it did this we got snow rain, ice and sleet all winter.  I was in layers.  Hope I find my stuff soon as I will not be getting out unless I have too and need to be occupied.  I get bored easy with out my hobbies.

hello dear Susanne!!! I have scanned off a few 2 page spreads to show my approach to this Faith journal I am working on...I am using a very easy, relaxed, expressive type of art instead of trying to make each page a masterpiece. Before I started this journal I thought about what I truly wanted it to be, and I wanted it to be about the Scriptures and their meanings to me more than focusing on the art and techniques...so I am just splashing some colors around, using tape and glue, scissors and papers....Here are a few pages. i couldn't fit the whole page on the scanner, but you will get the idea...

This way you can see my approach to this type of themed art journal...

Thanks for your comments Laura. The composition books are a great idea for making your own journals. My kids used to do that in elementry school for their writing journals. Everytime time I see those composition boks in the store I want to buy them but I know they will land in my pile of "to do" projects. A pile that is always growing bigger with no time   for all of them. Actually I saw your post about the mini books and really would love to give that a go so in my mind thats on my "To Do" list . HA HA
