Welcome

Hello and Welcome to the Beginners Group!

This is the place or beginners to gather and ask questions, seek feedback, and share their thoughts and experiences. Experienced artists willing to provide encouragement and share what they know are also welcome here.

If you are a beginner and would like to share your art, you can either post in the Show & Tell thread or start your own discussion.

If you are a beginner and would like some advice on a specific work-in-progress, you can either post in the WIP thread or start your own discussion.

Experienced Artists--please don't share your artwork in this group unless you are using it to answer a beginner's question.

Click here to learn how to upload images into your forum posts (which is important so that people can see your art within the post, rather than as an attachment link beneath your post).

Just two simple rules:

  • Please keep all discussions relevant to beginner topics.
  • Be friendly and considerate in your posts.

Thanks for joining & have fun!

I have been painting on Cardboard since Jan.   My goal has been to do something with Paints 5 days a week.   Cardboard has been wonderful for me...not intimidating, easy to throw out and free...just cut boxes apart.READ MORE

Remove canvas?

Started by Judy Lynn Aug 14, 2015. 0 Replies

Does anyone have a good way to remove a canvas from it's stretcher frame? I can't get the staples out so I've been cutting it out with an exacto knife from the back side. (should I have added a comment instead of a discussion?)

Hi Patty, welcome to the group!  I'm sure everyone has their favorite products, but I usually use Mod Podge or acrylic gel medium.  The acrylic gel medium costs a bit more, so I tend to use Mod Podge when I'm just goofing around.  I also use contact cement (mine is called Amazing Goop Craft) to glue "stuff" like charms, buttons, etc.

What type of glue is best for gluing pages of altered books together, gluing items into an altered book, and gluing items to the paper in drawing, doodle, entangle, etc.? Thanks
