My biggest problem with breakage is while sharpening. I like to work with a very sharp point but doing that, you risk going a bit too far and the whole point falls out of the pencil.I try to do it with a gentle hand. I have tried several different brands of sharpeners but haven't really found the perfect one yet.I would love to hear tips about how to get and keep a super fine point .

I bought a couple of watercolor pencils and had the same, I kept the pieces and will dissolve them in warm water to paint with.

This is so true it is a problem. I am wondering if maybe the colored pencil has been dropped a lot or just got banged around and is already broke inside. Also some times temperature changes can make them break. (Being to hot then cooled down) I have often thought about putting the pencil in a microwave for a couple of seconds and see if they would fuse back(if they are broken inside) . I haven't experimented with this theory as of yet. But just wondered if it would work. Maybe some one else would be willy to try it. I just haven't gotten around to it.
