hi Nick, Birds are wonderful and there is such a variety of different birds.  look forward to seeing some of your bird works.  Seems a long time ago that this group was active.  Lets all start waking it up with cat screams, bird squarking, dogs barking extra as animals are great fun and we so can learn from each other how to get the fur or feathers and scales right.

Here is one of my bird drawings.  I am no expert when it comes to birds, just like to have fun.  Not too into making a painting to realistic either, as I feel if I wanted real I could take a photo or see the animal in its real surroundings, but that may be an excuse because I am still new to this genre.

This is the Cape Ring dove (Streptopelia capicola), also known as the Cape turtle dove or half-collareddove, is a widespread and often abundant dove species in East and southern Africa.

Hi Nick Nicholson...
I paint a lot of furred creatures....
This is the rule of thumb method I use for colored fur

This is one of my paintings showing this furred technique......
I hope this helps... Cheers

Hi  Glad to join Pet Art.  Only began doing kittys and pups lately.  Started with drawings and 1 or  2 acrylic pics.  Here is a pencil drawing done for practice. I'll be posting some more on my page.  I'm still not expert in this area and hope to get better in time.  Welcome any suggestions.  Judith.
