Mostly I like odd things, these I call Alien Trees, all made with air dry clay and painted, only drawback is they are very fragile and chip easily. any ideas on how to strengthen or perhaps a different medium. I would eventually like to get a kiln, but knowledge in that area is lacking.

Very cool, Kenneth. I wonder if there is some kind of coating that would help prevent them from chipping?

You could try Sculpey or Fimo clay, which can be oven baked, so no need for a kiln.
