This is a pencil and watercolour sketch I did in Florence, Italy in April this year 2016. It is 16.8 cm deep and 11.8cm wide. So relatively small. Florence is my favourite foreign city. I have visited many times. On this occasion I travelled alone with the excess desire of sketching without distraction. Of course there were distractions as Florence is a vibrant city. But as a 66 year old retiree, this was a "bucket list" item and I did manage to return home with a good folio of work. This was actually my last sketch for this period and I took artist licence to include myself carrying my bag and stool.

Beautiful! Love that you included yourself.

Thank you everybody for you likes and comments. I hope to post more but we are out of town at the moment visiting family. We return home today. As I've said, this is my first posting but think I'm getting a feel for how the site works.

Oh, so the forms and should be so proud!!!

A lovely sketch of this scene in Florence, nice structure and depth reached and alignment ie shutters, arch and pale blue contrasts, well done!
