Fascinated by all those grand family portraits in Longleat House. They all tend to have long necks and the same eyes. Something odd about them

Great handling of texture of the velvet jacket? I  watched a TV arts programme many years ago and they were comparing contemporary portraits with those of a couple of centuries ago and all the older ones the sitters had round faces and prominent eyes.   They were putting it down to evolution of man or perhaps that was the style of portraiture of the time.  Really interesting.

Great work martin.  There  does seem to be a great deal of difference  between what people used to look like and now. I saw  something  where they said that you could tell  most people's station in life from their body shape   and many of the upper crust  tended to have very sloping shoulders duke of Wellington  is one example,   and slimmer waists. they've  found this out by studying  paintings  and  and extensive  collections  of  historic clothing.

Will you be showing  any of the last Lord baths special  collection, I only got a glimpse  of his group painting as i had my kids with me and you had to be over 18 to go dow. That corridore
