Texture added with light molding paste
While painting, my green Heron painting...I got tired of workiing it...so I stopped for a poppy break. They just pop out of my head, and onto the canvas. No thinking needed.

Thanks Mike...that one was done with thick gesso...and then lifting it with my palette knife and letting it dry...it works as well as the heavy texture medium
