Title: Fluora the Fluorescent Owl
Medium: Copic markers, Prismacolor colored pencils, Sakura Gel Pens, Fiskars Gel Pens

I really went for the neon/fluorescent color scheme with this one - I guess it's proof that I grew up in the 80s, haha! I drew this on white paper and added the black background in Photoshop to help make the colors pop. The line drawing for this owl is a coloring page in my Nature Mandalas Coloring Book.

Thank you so much, Mary! I love drawing/coloring owls.

As I colored this piece I worried that the colors were too neon but after I finished it I loved it. It was a great lesson for me in not judging a work of art before it's finished because the outcome may be a wonderful surprise! :)

Love the colors!  And please, what are "Copic markers"?

Comment by Thaneeya McArdle on May 25, 2014 at 10:10pm

Thank you Cheekyjane, Pat and Jayne!! :)

Jayne, "Copic" is a brand of markers. They're considered professional-quality markers and they're commonly used by manga/comic artists and fashion illustrators. The markers can be blended together. These are the ones I have: http://www.dickblick.com/products/copic-sketch-markers/ They're rather pricey compared to other markers but that's due to the quality of the pigment/ink. Hope this helps!
