The Wreck of the Hesperus was my inspiration here. Longfellow's poem always haunted me. If you look closely, you will see the Captain's ill-fated daughter (or her ghost I suppose) trying to get out from under the water which drowned her.

Yep!  And her little white handprints. I think she's a ghost more than a live girl.  Here's a closeup shot for you Ted.
