16"X20" Carbon, charcoal & graphite pencil on paper.
A few weeks ago I was asked by a client in Houston, TX to do a portrait of his wife and her father for Christmas. He wanted it in oil on canvas, but that would be impossible to complete in time. We decided to do it in pencil. The big problem, or challenge, was that the only picture of the father was from a drivers license. There was very little detail to see at all. She had never met her father and just recently found that he had died homeless in 2007. I was able to creat his portrait from the face structure on the small photo and a lot of imagination. It turned out well and she loved it.
