What a lovely piece, you can  see the love you put into it. It was to cope with the stress  after mum passed away and dad was giving up that I started painting. dad died 5 month later

So sorry about your mother's passing. This is a wonderful drawing and a great tribute.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. Looking through all of Mom's old photographs to do a slideshow for the funeral service really brought back memories of her whole life. I'm not sure how old she was in the photograph I drew this from, but it was a striking picture and I just wanted to try my hand at it.

Thank you Laura. I never thought of Mom as beautiful, and she never fussed with her looks (minimal makeup, beautiful white hair as she aged, comfortable clothing.) She always enjoyed the outdoors, so her skin aged as she did. But even her pictures as she aged have a certain warm beauty because of her beautiful spirit. This picture was probably around the time she got married.

Thank you P.J. Sorry for the loss of your mother too. Doing this sketch was very meaningful to me, and even though the picture is from when she was very young, the loving look in her eyes is the same look she had until she passed away.
