Coloured pencil on paper. I'm trying to branch out in my CP subjects and do more figures rather than just portraits and still lifes, and I want more practice drawing clothing too. But faces are wickedly hard when working on a small scale like I do(pretty much all my drawings are on 9" by 12" sheets, hence my preference for back views. I do favour romantic scenes. This was my first figure drawing in CP. I was actually more pleased with the ocean than the human subject, but whatever!

Thank you. I have done some figures with faces but so far haven't been very happy with the result. I'm used to doing very detailed work on faces with my portraits so find it frustrating working on such a small scale. They sometimes end up looking cartoonish to me. Although I'm working on a figure with a profile right now and it's not going too badly; one thing I've learned is to keep the pencils extremely sharp!

Both sea and figure are just lovely Kathy,  and there is always a fascination to back views, leaving something to the imagination.

The human subject in this painting is gloriously done!  There's a strong, appealing and attractive mood in this painting.

Beautiful work.  I particularly like the shading defining her shoulder blades.
