Thank you. I will admit  i stopped  reading paper books a long time ago but there are some things that you still can't  get digitally  and there are many people who can't  get on with computers a digital  technology  or just can't  afford  it.  There are so many other services  that the libraries  give us , ours has a bank of computer for those who can't  afford  them and printing service  that many people relie on so it would be sad to see them go especially as i'm  about to have an art show in One

I have to be honest I would prefer to read a book than read on my PC or my kindle

The book side  im less worried  about but i do know people who have looking at a kindle/ tablet/ ipad it gives them headaches.

My mother in law like the occasional  spoken words books that she could listen  too when she struggled  reading  she had something  wrong with her sight  her centre vision  was going.

There are a lot of people who don't  have access to computers  or don't  understand the use library computers and get help with online  forms so the libraries just offer different services  now

I do think libraries should be kept open.  When I was able to get out and about I used to enjoy meeting friends in the library where we could have a coffee and a bun and browse what was available.  Our mobile library has been stopped and there are very few new publications.   I have watched documentaries on TV where a learned person has been interviewed and when asked what books he read as a young man.  He said he was never away from the library. Not everyone could afford to buy new books and the library was the obvious place to go to quench your thirst for knowledge.

A lot of people do get great pleasure meeting friends in the libraries. I know our one has a coffee shop.  The staff help so many people on the computers because the only way to deal with many government bodies is on computers and some people can't  work on them

This is a great work Paul. A story told in the most graphic way possible

Thank you Gordon.  People think libraries  are still only about books but they offer so many other services.  , there are so many people  homeless here and many of them use computers  to kedp in contact with friends and family and also if gives them contact with doctors and hospital appointments

Thanks harry it good that your one is ok and  that you still use it,  i know one in Basildon is closing,  i've  seen people  moaning on line  saying how much of their childhood  they spent in the library but they hadn't  been back  in for 3p years,  some of these people can't  grasp that these places only stay open if people keep going into the libraries. Its not good how much time they spent there 30 to 30 years ago its now that matters
