A TV programme triggered a memory and a scribble of my time as an assistant bailiff at a fishing lake. we had a massive raise in the number of wasp nests and lots of people were getting stung some very badly. As the bailiff was a bit slow it fell to the assistants to get rid of them. so signs were put up and areas were roped off and we were given our tool a couple of garden forks, shredded paper , paraffin and a box of matches.
unknown to us someone had walked past the signs untied the rope and was standing directly behind us just as the swarm started leaving the nest, we could do no more than scream run which was made difficult for the man as he had a broken leg and was on crutches but he did manage to overtake my brother...after that I think he didn't ignore signs

I was amazed how fast a man with his leg in plaster on crutches could move  and he only got one sting. He said he did see the signs and the rope  but he untied it because he wanted to see what we were doing. The are a whole host of name I could and did call him but few printable.

One person was badly effected by a sting so something needed to  done  but spraying could have killed fish in the lake
