I was scanning through your work and this pastel caught my eye.  I was there!  It was years ago, Venice, San Marco's Square and our rooms was upstairs from where you painted this in the Pension de Doges.  The year was 1966, July.  The square flooded in a matter of minutes when we had a downpour and I'll never forget the amazement of all of us tourists.  You did a lovely job capturing this scene Ugo.  It brought back so many memories of our brief stay there.  I remember going out after the water subsided to see if a dead bird that was hanging from one of the parapits was still there.  Yep.  Your painting brought back sites and sounds and smells I'd forgotten about.  Isn't that was good art is supposed to do?  Keep painting.  I loved the treatment of the cobblestones in your painting and how the clouds just barely mimic the pattern.  :)
