This is done in hard pastels, and is a tribute to my mentor and dear friend of the past five years, Bob Heinrichs, who, very sadly passed away on May 1, 2018.  Many of you may know Bob, as an artist of the Hudson Valley, whose work is on this site.  The last time Bob posted his work, is, I believe, in 2014.  I enjoyed reading exchanges of comments in reaction to his pieces.  During the five years that I was lucky to call Bob my art teacher, he taught me many things.  "Foxy", which I already posted, was the first work that I did in Bob's first class that I took, in Yorktown Hts.  The painting above, is the last one I did under his tutelage in his private class in Croton, which, happily, I got to show him, framed.  Bob was not only a talented mentor, to me, but a friend soulmate.  We connected on so many levels: music (he was a choral singer, like me), religion and spirituality, books (Bob was an avid reader) and, of course, Westchester.  It was not a rare thing that we would stand outside after art class, and talk for a half hour.   I am terribly saddened by his passing.  I miss him so very, very much.  Bob left his hand print on many, many hearts, as was testified at his funeral on May 5th.  Bob showed me much of his artwork over the years, talking about the media, and what he liked about the subject.  Looking at his pieces now, seeing his exchange with his fellow artists on this site, it is like he is still alive - I can hear him talking and remember his tone of voice, facial expressions.  It still is so sad to me, but at times a smile plays in my heart.  Thanks so much for your expressions of delight and praise in Bob's work.  I know that it meant a lot to him.  One of the students in Bob's class, is hoping to have a show of Bob's artwork at a local church, in the fall.  If this comes about, I will certainly post it on this site.  Thanks for the comforting artistic connection that I feel as a member of The Art Colony - and thanks for your 'ear'.

I should also add that Bob was featured artist of the week during Christmas, 2013 and was quite delighted by this honor.
