New kid on the block

Hi there folks,

Just to say hello to everyone and looking forward to using the "Colony". I paint for my own pleasure but do take occasional commissions for suitable subjects. My main interest is in transport related subjects, especially railways, and I work in acrylics on canvas boards, usually in the 36" x 24" type range. I am self taught and have always enjoyed drawing, and initially watercolours, but realised what I had been missing when I "discovered" acrylics,- what a wonderful medium!

I am based in Northern Ireland where I have lived and worked all my life (until I got the opportunity for early retirement in 2006) and enjoy a wide range of hobbies, from woodwork , vehicle restoration and motorcycles to local history - and most things in between!

I will post some photographs of me and my work shortly. I am about to start on a commission this coming week at the Downpatrick & County Down Railway -www.downrail.co.uk- on a rather large mural spread over two large doors in the new carriage viewing gallery, each door is 12.5 feet wide by 15.5 feet tall, so I maybe sometime, and if it comes out successfully I will post some photos in due course. Look forward to seeing everyone elses work particularly if anyone shares an interest in my favourite subjects.

Cheers for now

David
