Writing a bio/profile has always been difficult for me because I'm a natural born introvert. I'm uncomfortable with publicity of any kind, yet over the years -- because of my chosen careers -- I've been challenged to open up.  So here goes.

First and foremost, I think this is one of the coolest sites in the Internet world of art. I joined last September (2013), posted a few paintings, and then zero-zip as I fell and broke my shoulder, and there were additional family issues.  And so now, I'm finally back, and somewhat in control!

I've been posting 5 images a day (the total amount allowed).  Please don't think that I paint that many a day! My total collection will include the last 8 years, when I officially began my art career. Before that, I was a writer.  I began my writing career in 1980 with a Berkley/Jove contract for three Romance novels to be completed by 1982.  I was over the moon!  I couldn't believe it was happening to me. For the next 13 years, I sold 32 novels (Romance, Mystery, Young Adult, Historical and Contemporary Women's fiction) to various publishing companies, and even had several books on the Waldenbooks Best Seller list, along with sales to many foreign countries.  Finally, the well ran dry.  I simply woke up one morning and realized I was exhausted. I retired in 1995, and never looked back ~~~~~ until a few months ago, when Amazon contacted me to let me know they had purchased all of my out of print books, and would be publishing them under various Amazon banners.  Once again I had contracts to sign and all the hoopla that goes with a new publishing contract. So that is where that stands, but this is about art!

After I retired from writing, art took over. I've loved creating art all my life -- I always seemed to have a pencil, crayon or chalk in my hand. In the mid 70's, I had a part-time job running the 'Birthday Room' at a nearby roller rink on Saturday mornings. On the long, far wall, I envisioned a mural filled with smiling kids wearing paper hats and eating birthday cake. I finally approached the owner regarding my idea, he gave me the okay, and actually paid me to do the job!  I was elated!  Took  a month, with me up on a ladder, but it was a job well done.  The mural stayed the wall for many years, until the owner finally sold the rink. And all those years later still found me up on ladders, as I continued to paint mostly bathroom and bedroom murals for family and friends.  In 1978/79, I took up art in earnest for a couple of years.  I worked with oils ~~ even took a couple of classes.  I learned how to paint an onion (I'll post that sometime in the future when I can get up the nerve) ~~ and how to paint a barnyard scene.  Yikes!  At that point, I almost tossed in the towel, filled with all my art supplies! I was NOT a good student, and decided no more art classes for me.  From then on, and as it still stands today, I am self taught.

Moving on ~~~

In 2005, I began painting 'just for me'.  Stuff that I wanted to do, and eventually, it turned into a very rewarding career. I have an eBay store where I sell my art -- georgl95741 -- Georgette's Art & Other Treasures, the other treasures can be anything that strikes my fancy.  I also have a few pieces on Zazzle and Etsy, and I'm affiliated with EBSQ and Art Wanted and the Sacchi Gallery in London.  You can also find me on Facebook and Pinterest.

Before I close, some personal info.  I am an 80-year-old widow.  I am the mother of four, step mother to three, grandmother of five, and great grandmother of eleven.  I am a foodie, adore Johnny Depp, NCIS, the Food Network and golf tournaments on TV, both the LPGA and the PGA.  Thank you all for your support, kind words and encouragement!!

Just had to look at your profile.  What a grat career. I too write but nothing worth publishing.  I used to read christian love novels from Grace Livingston   any relation?   I love your art and now will have to look for one of your books as i am an avid reader..  How exciting. I too love Johnny Depp and used to watch the food Chanel as well (but cannot where I live now). People say I have stories that go with my drawings and will think of one for you.  God bless you. xxxxx

Hey there, Georgette,

Thank you so much for the background on Mountain Love Song.  What a nice memory of time spent with your husband.  I'm sure this isn't the last Georgette Livingston novel I'll read.  Have a wonderful week.

Hey Georgette,

It's Mountain Love Song.  I love your dialogue and your descriptions.  You've written so many things.  I'm still working on my first one.  ^_^

You have a wonderful weekend, too.

Good morning, Georgette,

Thank you so much for reading my interview and looking at my art work.  I really appreciate it.  The last couple of days, when I have a few minutes, I've been reading one of your books on my Kindle.  I love your writing.
